Step into the golden age of Latin dance — the 1950s, when Mambo, Rumba, Bolero, and Cha-Cha ruled the dance floors from Havana to New York. This is a time-travel excursion into the era that defined Latin culture at its most vibrant and romantic.
The Latin Vibes Sunset Series brings this era to life at Pier 6, Brooklyn Bridge Park — dance instruction, social dancing, mocktails, and the NYC skyline at golden hour. All set to the rhythms of the 1950s.

The 1950s — When Latin Dance Conquered the World
The 1950s were the golden age of Latin dance. Mambo exploded out of Havana and took over New York City. The Palladium Ballroom on Broadway became the epicenter — where Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, and Machito played to packed houses every night. Mambo, Rumba, Cha-Cha, and Bolero weren't just dances — they were a cultural revolution.
This is the era we channel at the Latin Vibes Sunset Series. The rhythms, the energy, the romance — all brought to life at golden hour on the Brooklyn waterfront.
The Dances of the 1950s
Bolero (Classic)
The most romantic of the Latin dances — slow, sensual, and deeply connected. The dance of love stories and moonlit nights.
Mambo
High energy, syncopated rhythm, and the pulse of 1950s Havana. The Mambo craze swept New York and changed everything.
Cha-Cha
Playful, flirtatious, and irresistible — born from the Mambo but with its own triple-step groove that took the world by storm.
Rumba
The dance of the soul — slow, expressive, and deeply rooted in Afro-Cuban tradition. Every step tells a story.
